Singapore Airlines began in 1972 after the split-up of the joint-venture airline MSA Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. The MSA fleet was also split and Singapore began using Boeing 707s for it's European routes and Boeing 737s for it's regional ones. A year later Boeing 747-200s were introduced.
