USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) is the seventh Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarrier in the United States Navy, named for Senator John C. Stennis of Mississippi. She was commissioned on 9 December 1995. Her home port is Bremerton, Washington. In a historic move the US Navy is opening the Stennis to public tours for the kick of 100 years of Naval Aviation, on February 12, 2011 in San Diego. This is a rare chance for the public to see a Nuclear Carrier.
