Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante Air Littoral
Product Details
- The Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante is a Brazilian twin-turboprop light transport aircraft that Embraer designed for both military and civil use. French engineer Max Holste originally designed this aircraft, and it first took to the skies on October 26, 1968. The EMB 110 met the Brazilian Ministry of Aeronautics’ specifications for a reliable and low-operational-cost aircraft suitable for both civilian and military roles.
Due to its lightweight and cost-effective design, the Bandeirante gained popularity during the first oil crisis in 1973. Consequently, various countries imported it and utilized it for roles such as aerial observation, maritime patrol, and search and rescue missions.
Air Littoral, a French regional airline, notably operated the Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante. Air Littoral, one of the first international customers, significantly helped Embraer expand its market beyond Brazil. The Bandeirante proved well-suited for regional routes thanks to its cost-effectiveness and reliability.
