Product Details

  • The Aermacchi MB-326H is a highly regarded advanced jet trainer and light attack aircraft that served the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) from 1967 to 1989. The Italian manufacturer Aermacchi developed the MB-326H, and the RAAF selected it to replace the Vampire and Winjeel trainers. The aircraft features a tandem cockpit, closely resembling the layout of the RAAF’s Mirage III and the Royal Australian Navy’s aircraft. Moreover, the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation assembled the MB-326H in Australia, using a mix of Australian and Italian components. Pilots considered the MB-326H a “delight to fly” due to its exceptional handling. Consequently, the RAAF used the MB-326H for advanced pilot training and aerobatic displays by the Telstars and Roulettes display teams. Additionally, the aircraft played a significant role in preparing pilots for the transition to high-performance fighter jets. Throughout its service, the MB-326H demonstrated versatility and effectiveness, proving itself as an invaluable asset in training future RAAF pilots. Its legacy remains a testament to its design and performance, highlighting its impact on military aviation training. Therefore, the MB-326H contributed significantly to the RAAF, shaping the skills of generations of pilots.
