Product Details

  • The American Eagle A-101 is a classic biplane that epitomizes the golden age of aviation in the 1920s. Designed by the American Eagle Aircraft Corporation, this two- or three-seat trainer aircraft was an evolution of the earlier A-1 model. Introduced in 1926, the A-101 featured several improvements, including ailerons on the lower wings, which enhanced its maneuverability and performance.
  • Powered by the Curtiss OX-5 engine, and later the more powerful OX-6 engine, the A-101 delivered reliable performance for training and light commercial activities. Its robust steel tube fuselage and wooden wings provided durability, while its open cockpit design offered pilots and passengers an authentic flying experience. The aircraft became a favorite among flying schools and barnstormers, thanks to its affordability and ease of maintenance.
  • The American Eagle A-101 played a significant role in replacing surplus World War I aircraft, such as the Curtiss Jenny, in civilian aviation. Although production ceased in 1929 due to the Great Depression, the A-101 remains a cherished symbol of early aviation innovation.
  • Today, aviation enthusiasts can admire the American Eagle A-101 in museums and at airshows, where it continues to inspire with its timeless design and historical significance.
