Product Details

  • The Britten-Norman Trislander is a distinctive three-engined utility aircraft designed by the British manufacturer Britten-Norman. Officially known as the BN-2A Mk III Trislander, this aircraft evolved in the late 1960s as an expanded version of the successful Britten-Norman Islander. Notably, the Trislander features a unique design with a third engine mounted on the tail, which provides additional power and stability. Consequently, this configuration allows the Trislander to carry up to 18 passengers while performing Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) operations. The Trislander first took to the skies on September 11, 1970, and shortly after entered revenue service. Commuter airlines, especially those operating in regions with short runways and remote airfields, widely adopted this aircraft. For instance, Air South, among other operators, utilized the Trislander for its robustness and versatility. Measuring 46 ft 7 in in length, with a wingspan of 53 ft, it achieves a cruise speed of 155 knots (178 mph) and a range of 778 nautical miles. Therefore, the aircraft’s reliability and performance make it an ideal choice for regional airliners and island-hopping services. Thus, the Britten-Norman Trislander continues to be a favored aircraft for demanding operational environments. Consequently, you can discover more about the Britten-Norman Trislander and its enduring legacy in the aviation world.
