Lockheed Model 10 Electra Aircraft Model
Product Details

  • The Lockheed Model 10 Electra is an iconic twin-engined, all-metal monoplane airliner. Lockheed Aircraft Corporation developed it during the 1930s. Designed to compete with the Boeing 247 and Douglas DC-2, the Electra first took to the skies on February 23, 1934. This aircraft features a distinctive twin-tail design. Moreover, it represents one of the earliest commercial passenger planes with retractable landing gear.

Powered by reliable Pratt & Whitney Wasp engines, the Electra cruises at approximately 190 mph (306 km/h). It has a range of about 350 miles (563 km). Furthermore, it accommodates up to 10 passengers and two pilots. This provides a more modern and comfortable flying experience compared to earlier models. Additionally, Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan’s ambitious around-the-world expedition in 1937 brought widespread fame to the Electra.

Lockheed produced a total of 149 Model 10 Electras. Consequently, airlines worldwide utilized these aircraft. As a result, the Electra played a crucial role in advancing commercial aviation during the 1930s. This marked significant progress in the industry. Therefore, due to its historical significance and advanced design for its time, the Lockheed Model 10 Electra remains a celebrated and revered aircraft in aviation history.
