Product Details

  • The PAC CT/4 Airtrainer, known as the “Plastic Parrot,” is a single-engine, two-seat basic trainer aircraft. It was designed by the Pacific Aerospace Corporation (PAC) in Hamilton, New Zealand. Its development stemmed from the earlier Victa Aircruiser and Airtourer designs. When the CT/4 Airtrainer made its first flight on February 23, 1972, it quickly became a staple in military pilot training programs. The aircraft has a Teledyne Continental IO-360-HB9 piston engine with 210 horsepower. It reaches a maximum speed of 426 km/h and a cruising speed of 387 km/h. Moreover, it has a range of 1,112 kilometers, making it versatile and efficient.

Because of its all-metal construction, fully aerobatic capabilities, and side-by-side seating, it became ideal for basic pilot training. The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), and Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) all used the CT/4 Airtrainer for this purpose. Additionally, the aircraft has seen limited civilian use, showing its reliability and versatility.

As a result, today, the PAC CT/4 Airtrainer remains an important chapter in the history of aviation training.
