• The Sud Aviation Super Caravelle is an early design for supersonic transport developed by the French company Sud Aviation. Unlike most competing designs that envisioned larger trans-Atlantic aircraft, such as the Boeing 2707, the Super Caravelle is a smaller, shorter-range design intended to replace Sud Aviation’s earlier and successful Caravelle. In the 1960s and 1970s, Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, operated several Sud Aviation Super Caravelle aircraft. This significantly enhanced their fleet. In 1962, Finnair initially ordered six Super Caravelle 10B3 models, with deliveries starting in 1964. Later, in 1965, Finnair acquired two more of these advanced aircraft.
