Product Details

  • The Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow stands as a groundbreaking supersonic interceptor that highlights Canadian innovation in aviation. Designed and built by Avro Canada in the 1950s, it was intended to protect North America during the Cold War. Consequently, the aircraft aimed to intercept high-speed Soviet bombers at high altitudes. With its advanced technology and ambitious design, the Arrow quickly became one of the most forward-thinking aircraft projects of its time.
  • Moreover, the CF-105 Arrow achieved remarkable performance thanks to its Pratt & Whitney J75 engines. It reached near Mach 2 speeds and operated at altitudes exceeding 50,000 feet. Additionally, its sleek delta-wing design reduced drag and improved aerodynamics. The aircraft also carried air-to-air missiles internally, which further enhanced its efficiency. Furthermore, skipping the traditional prototype phase showcased the team’s confidence in its innovative approach.
  • Despite these achievements, the Canadian government controversially canceled the Arrow program in 1959. This decision, attributed to high costs and shifting defense priorities, led to the destruction of completed models and materials. As a result, the Arrow’s cancellation remains a topic of debate.
Today, the Avro Arrow symbolizes Canadian ambition and ingenuity. Aviation enthusiasts celebrate its legacy through museum exhibits and replicas, ensuring its story endures.
